I joined NIHR DEC London because I believe that through my knowledge of the research process together with an understanding of the commercial world, I can provide valuable input into the development of diagnostic devices. I am a lay member of NRES Brent Research Ethics Committee; review grant applications for the National Institute of Health Research and provide input as a patient member of Imperial Biomedical Research Centre. I am also an independent member of the Statinwise Trial Steering Committee. Within the NHS, I am a lay member of the Advisory Committee for Clinical Excellence Awards, London North West; patient representative on the NHS Digital E-Referrals Advisory Board and lay partner of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
“In the video above, Maurice describes why he likes working as a patient representative, and what his experience has been in working with DEC London. Maurice also provides advice for those who would like to get involved.”
